Canadian officers with captured German weapons, during World War I. Canadian officers are pictured with a vast array of captured German weapons, laid out in rank and file order rather like an army battalion. Such a seizure of enemy fire-power would probably have been highly effective for morale-building and propaganda purposes when the photograph was published in Britain.

Canadian troops played a huge role in the ultimate Allied victory in World War I. Between 1914 and 1918 more than half-a-million Canadians enlisted in the army, and in the final offensives of the war Canadian divisions were at the forefront, capturing many German soldiers and weapons like those shown in the photograph.

Here is my capstone team posing in what is supposed to be a propaganda like pose in front of their project. They had the assignment to build a tracking solar system on top of a trailer for the BYU archeology department. I had wanted this picture to be with them facing the rising sun but the weather did not cooperate and they are only facing rising clouds where the sun should be.

The first of what I hope will be a series: PROPAGANDA posters of WW1 (Maybe also of WW2).

As always tell me what you think and if you want to see more!

This is for my US social studies propaganda project and yes I know that helicopters were not used in the second world war and that tank is actually suppose to be a German tank but I had to use what I have for this project in my class.

Let's catch him with his ''panzers'' down!

My entry for the WWII LEGO contest.

A poster I made for a campaign to alert our local area about the plan to build a wind farm ½ a mile from our village. I was attempting a style like a 1960s horror film poster. Some people suggested that it was too "emotive" – but isn't that what propaganda is all about...?

(I was going to get the language corrected by a native-french-speaker but never got around to it).

I should add that I am fully in favour of minimising carbon emission but I have serious doubts about the effectiveness of on-shore wind farms because of their unreliable output requiring inefficient stop-go backup by conventional power stations. The political pressure to be seen to be doing something is distorting the funding for real progress in developing renewable energy supplies. Under EU pressure the French government is offering huge financial incentives to set up wind farms whether effective or not and multinational companies are cynically cashing in, to the detriment of the populations of rural areas and the local ecologies.

Also, see my other, more factual, poster...

PS May 2025: the wind farm plan for Gourvillette has finally been defeated after legal battles for 9 years!

Maybe there IS a place for propaganda...

No propaganda for political purposes (i think..) but the imagery on the the placard is very strong and has very hard and distinct shapes against a soft bokeh background made me very happy about this image.
